Indian batsman Harleen Deol said the Women's Premier League (WPL) will change the world of women's cricket and urged fans to come and watch WPL matches at the stadium. Harleen's statement came after she signed a WPL contract with Gujarat Giants for the inaugural edition of the T20 league. "This is a great opportunity for all of us; we have been waiting for this for a very long time, and now it's finally happening, so we are very excited about it. If you see all the foreign players and all the players, they are looking forward to it because they know what impact it has on the world of cricket, so definitely it's going to change," Harleen was quoted.
Harleen Deol entered the Women's Premier League (WPL) auction at a base price of Rs 40 crore. Gujarat Giants made an initial bid for the 24-year-old and no other franchise was willing to compete. As a result, Harleen Deol was sold to the Giants for her base price of Rs 40 crore. Notably, Harleen was the first Indian franchise acquisition in the WPL auction. She will be joined at Gujarat Giants by Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney, Sophia Dunkley, Annabel Sutherland and Deandra Dottin.
Harleen Deol has played 7 One Day Internationals (WODIs) and 22 Twenty Twenty Internationals (WT20Is) for the Indian Women's National Cricket Team. He has 104 ODI runs and 245 T20I runs to his credit. She also won with her spin bowling.
"Even in men's cricket, things have changed for the domestic players, and it provides a very good platform for people to perform. I always knew that I was going to make it to the Indian Team because I have always believed in that, and when things start happening, it just feels like a dream coming true, so this was also one of our dreams. I am really looking forward to it and will give my best; they picked me, and I am really happy for it, and for the fans. I would like to say that please come and watch; hopefully, we will be having a great tournament," Harleen added.
